Do pro-life policies actually protect life? In states with heavily restrictive abortion bans women have died from ectopic pregnancies or miscarriages because they were not able to access healthcare in the name of protecting the fetus—a fetus that could not survive on its own. Hence, women have to die in the name of a potential life that could never survive. Essentially, the life of a woman is worth less than non viable human cells.

Abortion bans are part of a slippery slope where a woman can face prosecution over the loss of a pregnancy. Already this has begun in Ohio where Brittany Watts was arrested and charged with felony “abuse of a corpse” because she miscarried at 21 weeks. Before she miscarried at home on a toilet, Brittany had attempted to receive care at a hospital twice, but was denied medical treatment due to Ohio’s extreme abortion restrictions. A pregnant woman who was not even seeking an abortion, was denied healthcare as a result of heavily restrictive abortion bans.
The causes of miscarriages are often unknown. Abortion restrictions create a police state where state authorities are given power to assume the loss of a pregnancy is a criminal act. State authorities, which consist of policemen and politicians, who lack basic personal and medical understanding of a woman’s body, are given power by anti-abortion legislation to investigate the private function of the female body like a crime scene. Men who are driven by the self-righteous presumption of morality from pro-life policies, will be emboldened to further restrict, police, and criminalize women over miscarriages or periods.

Voting YES on the proposed Constitutional Amendment HJ1/SB449 on April 21st to protect Reproductive Rights is not about supporting abortion, but protecting women from a reproductive police state that will marginalize their lives over non-viable human cells or prosecute women for miscarriages and periods.
Natalie’s Abortion tells the true to life story of a sexual assault survivor, the trauma of a rape-related pregnancy, and how she found her voice in a world that wanted to silence her. Natalie’s Abortion was censored on Amazon Prime in the same way many sexual assault victims are silenced. However, this film needs your support to bring to life the stories of survivors. Please watch Natalie’s Abortion on TubiTV or AppleTV and share it with others!
